Curious Creatures of Canada (Alberta phase) By Andrew J. 'Estubar' Sawatzky
Curious Creatures of Canada (Alberta phase), is an illustrated and descriptive alphabetical listing. Though the creatures are imaginary, some resemble real counterparts, for example, the Relbaat and Wrungneck. The book concept, encouraged by friends, came primarily out of an interest in wordplay, geography and art. Combining the three was a stimulating and challenging task. Each illustration is accompanied by two side by side aquaria which serve as diversions and unifying factors. The pictures are painstakingly hand-drawn and have two encoded messages hidden in each of them, see if you're sharp enough to find them. To understand each of the creatures a little better, read the "Tabulus Fabulous" section.
